Fluoropolymer moulding - a specialist process

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a remarkable material, resistant to almost every chemical and solvent and so slippery nothing will stick to it, however you can not injection mould PTFE.

Major chemical companies have now developed fluoroplastics that retain the unique properties of PTFE. but can be processed on injection moulding equipment. These fluoropolymers are not easily processed by the everyday injection moulding company. However KJK Plastics have invested in specialist equipment and skills to process these complex polymers.

Key properties of fluoropolymers

Resistance to: corrosive chemicals, organic solvents, aqueous caustics, strong acids and chlorine.

Adhesion: excellent anti-stick & self lubricating properties.

Cold: stable and functional at cryogenic temperatures.

Heat: stable and functional at high service temperatures, 260°C for prolonged exposure.

Electrical properties: Unsurpassed dielectric properties, high specific resistance and high resistance to dielectric breakdown.

Contamination: Chemically pure and inert.

Mechanical stress: Excellent fatigue resistance.
